{"id":811,"date":"2023-03-15T12:42:11","date_gmt":"2023-03-15T11:42:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.artsignsproject.eu\/platform\/?post_type=lp_course&#038;p=811"},"modified":"2024-03-19T13:21:32","modified_gmt":"2024-03-19T12:21:32","slug":"art-culture-deaf-audience","status":"publish","type":"lp_course","link":"https:\/\/www.artsignsproject.eu\/platform\/cor\/art-culture-deaf-audience\/","title":{"rendered":"Art, Culture and Museum accessibility for Deaf audience"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\">The <strong>Art&amp;Signs Curriculum<\/strong> is addressed to museum workers aimed at transferring them the necessary knowledge and skills in order to be able to welcome and accompany Deaf visitors in the museum by explaining the meaning of the artworks hosted in.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\">In order to achieve this goal, a set of educational and training materials are designed by the partnership covering the following topics:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"><strong>basic language skills<\/strong> of the National Sign Languages used in the partner countries (Slovakia, Italy, Cyprus, Netherlands, Romania and Spain)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"><strong>sectoral signs<\/strong> related to the art and culture<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\">knowledge about the <strong>Deaf culture<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"><strong>skills, strategies and elements of non-verbal communication<\/strong> to be used with Deaf visitors.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\">The Curriculum is developed with the essential support of the Deaf people experienced in the field of art and culture who have been involved during the implementation of the training programme in each partner country. The cooperation between hearing and Deaf trainers is crucial in order to ensure the inclusion at social and professional level as well as to make Deaf people protagonist in the development of a training programme concerning their world<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\">in terms of language and culture.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\">The main target groups who can benefit directly and indirectly from the implementation of the Art&amp;amp;Signs Curriculum are:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"><strong>Museum workers<\/strong>: curators, museum educators, museum docents,<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\">front-office employees, museum guides<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"><strong>Deaf trainers<\/strong>, Deaf artists, trainers Sign Language users, VET<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\">providers<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\"><strong>Stakeholders<\/strong>: Deaf associations, museum institutions, organizations, public institutions and companies dealing with accessibility and social inclusion.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: helvetica;\">This training programme is innovative because it takes into account two different perspectives: the museum workers as the beneficiaries of the training and the Deaf community who will gain greater accessibility to culture places through an adequate training of museum staff.
